Share the sky above you

Patch of Sky - Collection

What is it

Ideated and assembled at Fabrica, Patch of Sky is a set of three Internet connected ambient lights, enabling you to share the sky above you in real-time with loved ones, wherever they are.

Each object gathers weather information based on your current Facebook location and displays it with colored light animations.

Patch of Sky is your partner or friend’s silent companion, that will tell them about the sky and world you’re living in, while away.

Patch of Sky seamlessly integrates with personal spaces, at home or in the office. The mirrors come in three different sizes, to either be placed on a table or hung on the wall.

Each mirror is named after old Egyptian weather deities: Amun the god of wind, Set the god of storms and Tefnut the goddess of rain.

Meteorological phenomena are classified into eleven common weather conditions, each of them corresponding to a colored light animation. These animations are carefully designed to be understood at first glance.

The prototypes are developed with Arduino while BERGCloud, a hardware and software solution for the Internet of Things, connects Patch of Sky to the web.

Each Patch of Sky is registered with a Facebook account: the person receiving it simply needs to attach the router to the BERGCloud Bridge which will wirelessly link to the mirror and connect the light to the internet.
